At 11:45 last Sunday night the festive mood outside Riverview Disco in the north leeward village of Fitz Hughes was shattered by gunfire. When the smoke cleared 32-year-old Philmore Lett also known as Jimmy was lying on the ground in front of his mother’s residence where he had run to after being shot four times.{{more}}

Witnesses said that they heard five shots and saw Lett run then collapse. He was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital where a bullet was removed from his chest just below his right shoulder. He was also wounded in his left hand, upper left arm and his lower left side in the area of his kidney.

Andrew “Maka” Harry, 25, of Barracks Village Chateaubelair on Tuesday turned himself into the police in connection with the shooting incident. He was charged with “wounding with intent” a police source told SEARCHLIGHT. Harry has retained Attorney Bertram Stapleton.

On Wednesday, rumours circulated that Lett had died, however, when visited by SEARCHLIGHT he declined an interview but said “me nah dead, only God could kill me.” He is in stable condition at the Male Surgical Ward.

Lett served six years at Her Majesty’s Prisons for killing Franco Pierre a teenager of Fitz Hughes in the early 90s while a teenager himself.
