Sunshine Basketball facilitates school supplies donation
The combined effort of Canada–based Vincentian Dian Moore and the Sunshine Basketball Academy, has resulted in 29 students from three schools being presented with back packs and school supplies.
The beneficiaries of last Thursday’s gesture were Grade Six students of the Tourama Primary School, the Dickson Methodist and the Fancy Government School.
In addition to the presentations to the students, the schools were also given a quantity of supplies to be distributed accordingly.
Wayne Williams, of the Sunshine Basketball Academy, revealed that the donations were part of relief efforts which started last April, following the eruptions of La Soufriere volcano.
“It was an ongoing programme to assist those in the red zone… Last year, we donated food items and clothing to players who were part of the last schools’ basketball competition,” Williams related.
