St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) chalked up their second win Monday evening to remain unbeaten to date in the 2022 OECS / ECCB International Netball Series, currently underway in Roseau, Dominica.
Yesterday February 14, the Vincentian squad handed hosts Dominica a 74-23 mauling; quarter scores being 19-11, 37-16, 59-19, and 74-23.
Goal-shooter Mary-Ann Frederick sank 58 of 64 attempts; goal-attack Zannelle James scored 3 of 9; Joseann Antoine netted 6 of 9 attempts; and Shellisa Davis scored 7 of her 11 attempts.
For Dominica, goal-shooter Lisa James scored 16 of 19 attempts taken; Kyla Winston scored 6 of 9; and Melissa Williams scored 1 of 2 attempts.
Rain has been an intervening factor in the February 12-18 tournament, so far severely affecting the opening matches which got underway at the Windsor Park hard-court on Sunday afternoon, February 13 causing one game to be rescheduled to yesterday, February 14.
Despite the series of rain-induced stoppages both St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua/Barbuda secured victories in their opening encounters. In the first game of the tournament, hosts Dominica lost to Antigua and Barbuda 53-24; and the Vincy lasses scored an emphatic 62 – 33 victory over St Kitts/Nevis in Sunday’s second game.
The quarters in Sunday’s opening game read: 14-9; 30-17, 51-25, 62-33.
For the Vincentians, goal-shooter Mary-Ann Frederick scored 52 of 60 attempts, and Shellisa Davis netted 10 of her 16 attempts.
