Farmers receive income support from government

FARMERS IN both the volcano red and orange hazard zones received an Income support payment last week.

The payment was made to farmers on the Windward and Leeward sides of the island, from Wednesday May 4 to Friday May 6 at various locations.

Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves has promised that this will not be a one-off payment.

In response to a question from a listener on NBC Radio on Wednesday May 4, the Prime Minister said farmers will receive more than one payment this year.

Last year, farmers began receiving government income support, following the explosive eruptions of La Soufriere Volcano in April, 2021.

Many farmers have since expressed gratitude to the government for the assistance.
