Later that day, the Indian community and friends of India are invited to a community event at Calder beginning at 4 pm. The event will take place in the area between the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Touch of Pearl Bar Restaurant at Calder Village, along the Calder Main Road.
“All are requested to kindly note that the road leading to the venue may be closed just prior to the start of the event to enable the President motorcade to pass through. Therefore, all should reach the venue by 3:30 pm,” a release from the High Commissioner of India to SVG said.
Immediately after the event near the SDA Church, there will be the unveiling of a name board renaming Calder road as ‘India Drive’ happening at a different location nearby, at the gap to Calder from the Windward Highway. All are requested to proceed to that location also immediately after the Community event near the church.
A release from the Government of India said: “SVG is an important partner of India. India and SVG were both non-permanent members of the UNSC in 2021 and shared good cooperation during this period.”
The President will also visit Jamaica during his trip to the Caribbean.
The release from the Government of India also said: “Jamaica and SVG are active members in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The first ever Head of State visit to these countries is a continuation of India’s high-level engagement with the countries in the Caribbean region and emphasizes our continued commitment to work with Small Island developing countries.”
