SVG Tennis Association Executive gets called out

The Executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association (SVGTA) has been served with a notice to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting.

The call has been made by a group of persons, all of whom have served the sport in different capacities.

In a letter dated June 10, 2022, and addressed to Janelle Humphrey, the SVGTA’s General Secretary, the five signatories have called out the Brian Nash-led executive.

Among the demands contained in the letter, is the “ Disclosure of any changes made to the last constitution of the Association”.

Additionally, the signatories have given notice to Nash and company of the intention to move a motion of “no confidence” in the present Association in light of its present dormant state”.

Another of the demands of the five, is the call for presentation of Financial Statements of the Association for the year ending 2021, as well as the election of a Management Committee.

According to the Constitution of the SVGTA, “An Extraordinary general meeting of the Association may be called at any time at the discretion of the Executive Committee, and shall also be summoned by the General Secretary within two (2) weeks after the receipt by him on the requisition in writing to the effect, given five (5) or more Affiliated Members or Individual Members, providing such requisition shall state the business for which the meeting is to be called, and it shall also be understood and agreed, that only such business shall be discussed at any extraordinary general meeting is summoned”.

SEARCHLIGHT understands that the letter, which has been copied to the president and general secretary of the SVG Olympic Committee, and the vice- president of the SVGTA, was hand delivered to Humphrey last Wednesday, June 15.
