Sixth placed aspiring Astronomer Ennabelle is shooting for the stars
Aspiring Astronomer or Engineer, Ennabelle McMaster has already begun shooting for the stars with her performance at this year’s Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA).
The 10-year-old Windsor Primary School student placed fifth for girls and sixth overall from 1705 sitting candidates.
In order to achieve this feat, “I had to put away some of the things that I like to do to do schoolwork more, and we also came to school in the Easter vacation to do extra classes,” McMaster revealed.
In the end, she noted “I wanted to do a bit better but I’m pleased with it.”
Her most challenging subject was Social Studies.
“I actually did better in the subjects I didn’t expect to do the best in,” she explained, namely Language and Mathematics.
Her favourite subject is science, which is not surprising since her life goal is now to be an astronomer or “maybe” an engineer.
“I just like the Universe for the astronomers and I like trying to create things,” the cheerful young student said.
McMaster thanked God, her teachers and parents for their support.
Her mother, Elizabeth McMaster, indicated “I just wanna give God all the glory and praise because we prayed a lot about the exam and we trust God in everything that we do so all honour to Him first and foremost. Also to the teachers, they did a fantastic job.”
Principal, Anella Roban was able to describe the kind of student Ennabelle is.
“Ennabelle is a consistent student,” she explained, “she works assiduously to get to where she wants to be, she sets her own goals and she is intrinsically driven,” Roban said.
“She’s motivated, she knows what she wants… not only in academics, outside, if there are competitions being done she would pursue as well.”
Further, “She’s not afraid to give up certain things, whether it’s TV or whatever to do what she has to do to reach where she wants to be.”
Ennabelle’s elder sister, Geneviève McMaster, also placed in the top 10 in 2017.
