Beach at Rose Place cleared to allow for work on port project to begin
Work has started at the site of the new container terminal at Rose Place in Kingstown.
The project was formally launched on July 1 and on July 14, it was observed that sections of the beach had been cleared to allow for construction work to begin.
Vehicular traffic in the area will also be rerouted and also on July 14, workmen were busy marking the road in the area of the Leeward bus terminal.
Fishers and persons who lived on the beach had to be relocated to make way for the EC$600 million project.
The Port Modernization Project is expected to be completed in two and a half years.
