Man charged with double murder

A 36-year-old contractor from Kingstown Park was on Wednesday, arrested and charged for the double murder of Suzette Brooks, 58, Businesswoman of Largo Heights and Aretha Caine, 33, Domestic of Walvaroo.
Winston Nichols was greeted by the boisterous chants of fuming family members and curious onlookers as he appeared from the police transport.
The bodies of both ladies were found at Brooksâ home at Largo Heights on Wednesday, May 30 drenched in blood. They were found with multiple chops wounds about their bodies.
Nichols went before Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman and was not allowed to plead to the two indictable matters. He was remanded to her Majestyâs Prisons.
Prosecutor Station Sergeant Nigel Butcher pointed out to the Magistrate that the prosecution was seeking a three-month adjournment to allow for forensic analysis to be done on the clothing, weapon and other items found at the murder scene.
In delivering her ruling, Magistrate Churaman granted the prosecution a two-month adjournment.
The matter adjourned to August 7 for a review of the matter and to set a date for the Preliminary Inquiry. (KW)
