Addressing the corporationâs final press conference on Tuesday before tonightâs Fantastic Friday grand opening, Ambrose urged patrons to support among other events the junior shows: tomorrowâs Junior Carnival, Junior Calypso/Soca scheduled for July 3rd, and July 5thâs Junior Panorama.
He also encouraged participation in the Monday street jump up and t-shirt bands, which are considered indigenous to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Ambrose outlined a number of special events that will take place during the 10-day celebrations, including the recognition of Melbourne Constance and Granville Straker for their contributions to carnival, and a reunion of the band Touch at the Miss Carival pageant.
Meanwhile Minister of Culture René Baptiste reminded patrons to obey the laws, and to keep carnival clean.
Minister Baptiste in her presentation tackled whom she regarded as persons pushing an agenda against CDC, by chronicling the achievements of the corporation, and the components of carnival since 2001.
She said that the quality and delivery of carnival has improved, and that neither the CDC, herself or the Ministry of Culture will be âbullied or abusedâ.
