Movie style shooting claims life of Sharpes man

DRIVE BY IN HOLLYWOOD

Two men are walking up the street.
Vehicle drives up to the men, someone opens fire.
The men run.
One hides.

This is not Hollywood, California, where movies are made.
There is no director, no script, no star.
The bullets are real, the tears are real, the death is real.

This country recorded its fourth homicide for the year, when 25-year-old Kimron McDowall received two gun shots, one to the head and the other to the side, in broad daylight.

McDowall, a resident of Hollywood, Redemption Sharpes, was walking with a friend to another friend’s house when, according to reports, a jeep pulled up next to them and an occupant of the vehicle shot at them.

McDowall’s companion was hit in the leg and was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital where he was said to be in critical condition at press time.

The deceased, also known as ‘Skinnan’, was no stranger to trouble, having been released from prison in November last year after serving one year behind bars for attempted robbery.

McDowall was convicted in the June 2006 robbery of Wendell Antrobus’ Bakery in Redemption Sharpes.

Antrobus himself was the victim of a gunman’s bullet on January 12th this year, when he survived a gunshot to the head.

Recently, McDowall was implicated in an attempt to smuggle contraband into Her Majesty’s Prisons.

On Thursday, January 24th, an attempt was made on his life, when unknown assailants shot at him while he was hanging ‘on the block’.
