The Sun has set, and it just might become “a whole new altitude” for air access to this country. Now, persons travelling internationally to and from this country can fly non-stop to and from Puerto Rico to the E.T. Joshua Airport in two hours.{{more}}

The Caribbean Sun touched down at the E.T Joshua Airport around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 21, to a reception of Vincentians from all walks of life who had gathered in the waving gallery of the terminal building.

Members of government, officials of sister airline Caribbean Star and members of the media greeted the top executives who stepped off the plane. There was pan music from Rythmix in the air and students of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School sang and offered the arriving passengers sunflowers, an appropriate gesture for the landing of the “Sun” to this country.

After a few questions from the media in the VIP lounge, it was time to take in the hype of local entertainers who had the massive crowd jumping and waving their Caribbean Sun bandannas at the free Sun Dance concert held at Cruise Ship Berth, for once free of security restrictions. The fanfare was completed with fireworks, confetti and the energetic performance of Trinidad’s Soca Monarch Bunji Garlin.

But as the celebratory events came to a close at that venue, a group of officials and media slipped out for the E.T.Joshua on a short flight to Canouan on the 37-seater Caribbean Sun aircraft, which touched down at 11:12 p.m.

The guests overnighted at the Raffles Resort, which received a lot of commendation from the visitors for the quality and service of the five-star complex.
