by Ms Silma McLean

To Mrs. Julia Williams who passed away on 23rd February 2011 and was laid to rest in Bequia on 1st March 2011.

Mrs. Julia Williams joined the Insect Vector Control Programme as an inspector on October 20, 1997, and was assigned to Bequia on a fulltime basis. It is noteworthy that Mrs. Williams worked directly unsupervised, except for few periods when she was assigned as the Environmental Health Officer for Bequia. She has proven herself over the years to be a flexible, hardworking, honest, reliable and trustworthy individual. Whenever questions arose concerning her work schedule she was able to account at all times. Her humble and quiet disposition made it quite easy to relate and communicate with her. She was so dedicated to her work that she requested to be buried in her uniform and on a work day.

We were all saddened and concerned about her during her illness, and today her death has shaken all of us and we are mourning the loss of a wonderful co-worker, friend and role model. At times we wonder why bad things do happen to good people and why our loved ones are taken away so soon but we realized that who we love, God loves best.

To the family, relatives and friends, we wish to express our deepest and sincerest condolences and pray that you would be comforted and strengthened in this time of grief. Also, condolences are extended on behalf of the National Workers’ Movement, of which she was a member.

The Insect Vector Control Programme, and as a matter of fact, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment is poorer today due to the loss of one of its most outstanding workers. Her memories we will cherish for a long, long time.

May her soul rest in eternal peace!
