My ex bf wants to ‘chill and catch up.’ What should I do?

Social Share

Hey Rosie,

A long time ago I wrote to you when I was in high school and told you that I was in a love triangle.  You suggested that I focus on school and not all the drama of this triangle and I took your advice.  I dumped my boyfriend and my friend whom he was seeing as well. Fast forward six years; I’ve graduated from college and I am going to do my post-graduate degree. I truly don’t regret it. This is the deal, though; my ex-boyfriend contacted me via Facebook and wants to “chat and catch up”.  Rosie, truthfully, I will always be attracted to this dude, but I haven’t seen him in over four years. He has a daughter and I have a boyfriend for the last two years and we have no issues. So, why am I curious?  What should I do?

 One more time

 Dear One more time,

I’m begging you, please, NO MORE TIMES!  You know that you are entering into the danger zone and why play with fire, my girl?

Yes, he was your old flame, but remember he burnt you before with his wandering eyes and I am not saying that people can’t change, but why go down this road again?  You seem to have a nice partner. Congrats! You’ve done well in school and you are continuing to strive for more.  Your future looks bright; please leave the past where it belongs.

Believe me, I understand the laws of attraction and in some cases, you can’t stop being pulled towards whom you are attracted to.  But I am asking you to just let him know that you aren’t interested and wish him well.  Believe me, it’s the best thing.  Continued success as you continue to soar.
