Seven in custody following robbery of medical doctor
Seven men are now in police custody, having been apprehended at a house in East Kingstown on Saturday night.
The group of men, who are suspected of having been involved in a series of recent crimes, were nabbed at a house in the Sion Hill area, during investigations into the robbery of Dr. Reisha Twana Browne-Caesar.
According to reports, Dr. Browne-Caesar, a consultant nephrologist at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital was robbed at knife-point on Saturday night as she was exiting her car and about to enter her home at Cedars, in the South Windward area.
During the robbery, Browne-Caesar’s bag, containing her telephone was taken, and according to a usually reliable source, it was the telephone that led police to the house where the men were found. Police are said to have also recovered a firearm and ammunition at the house where the men were apprehended.
SEARCHLIGHT has learnt that a police officer who is on suspension pending the outcome of burglary case in which he is charged, is among the seven men taken into custody.
The men are said to be between 25 and 34 years old.
An eighth man is being sought by police.
Dr Browne-Caesar is the wife of Minister of Agriculture and parliamentary representative for South Central Windward Saboto Caesar.
