Covid-19 cluster at Mental Health Centre increases to 43
The number of persons in the cluster of Covid-19 positive persons at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre (MHRC) has increased to 43.
Twenty additional people tested positive today, Saturday, February 27, when RT-PCR tests were conducted on patients and staff of the health facility at Glen, as part of the ongoing contact tracing and general screening, a release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) said.
Of the 20 persons who tested positive today, 18 are patients and two, staff members.
These new cases at the MHRC come on the heels of 23 cases — 21 patients and two staff members — that were reported on Friday, February 26. There are now a total of 39 patients and four staff members at the MHRC who have tested positive.
“Isolation and quarantine measures are being implemented along with additional testing to ensure containment of any further spread in the facility,” the release said.
Three other Covid-19 cases were also reported today from RT-PCR tests done at flu clinics on Friday February 26. Two hundred and forty-five (245) samples were received on Friday February 26 resulting in a positivity rate of 1.2%.
Four persons were cleared bringing the number of total recoveries to 936. Six hundred and thirty-five (635) cases remain active and eight persons with COVID-19 have died. One thousand, five hundred and seventy-nine (1579) cases of COVID-19 have been reported in St Vincent and the Grenadines since March 2020.
