Season’s Greetings in the most worthy name of Christ Jesus, our Saviour and Lord.

Matters of Concern: One Redemption Hymn-writer reminisced:

I think when I read that sweet story of old, when Jesus was here among men; How He called little children as lambs to His fold – I should like to have been with Him then.{{more}}

In Mt. 24:3, the disciples inquisitively asked Jesus: ‘What Shall Be The Sign Of Thy Coming? Is it of any concern to you that Jesus was here, and that He will be here again? Both the Hymn-writer and the disciples agreed to some extent that He was here; for, one pondered what was read, while others enquired after what He said.

We can further meditate on the Angels’ words in Acts 1:11: —- this same Jesus —- shall so come —- as ye have seen Him go —-!

It must be of some concern to us about the fulfillment of prophecy and the imminent return of the ‘Same Jesus’, who was here among men, whom the disciples questioned about the nature of the times leading up to His return; and what the Angels said about the manner of His return. It must be of concern that many strain at a gnat to swallow a camel. It must be of concern that so many trifle with their precious souls for earthly possessions.

It must be of concern that people have forgotten the truth that the Blessed Nation is the one that fears or honours God. Take a look around you. Isn’t there cause for concern? Neighbour, He said it and it is true – ‘If I go, I will come again’. Hear the writer of the Sacred Songs:

Jesus is coming! His saints to release,
Coming to give to the warring earth peace:
Sinning and signing and sorrow shall cease
Jesus is coming again!

Jesus is coming! The dead shall arise,
Loved ones shall meet in a joyful surprise;
Caught up together to Him in the skies –
Jesus is coming again!

Jesus is coming! Sing the glad word!
Coming for those He redeemed with His blood:
Coming to reign as the glorified Lord –
Jesus is coming again!

May the memories of the season concern our minds with this one truth: “God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world (the entire human race) through Him might be saved.”

My humble, earnest prayer for St. Vincent and the Grenadines is that peace will reign in our hearts and our lifestyles.
