Let kindness flow from your heart

CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM HIS EXCELLENCY SIR FREDERICK N. BALLANTYNE, G.C.M.G., MD, GOVERNOR-GENERAL OF ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES
One of the most significant days in the Christian calendar is Christmas, the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It is, therefore, not surprising that this day is celebrated with great feasting and merriment as we remember this milestone in human history.{{more}}
Being conscious of the teachings of Jesus whose birthday we celebrate, and His emphasis on Peace and Goodwill to all mankind, the occasion should remind us to renew our efforts towards attaining these goals.
We are all very much aware of the difficult economic situation facing the entire world. The impact of this is most certain to affect severely those persons who are poor and in the lowest income bracket in our society.
It is, therefore, incumbent on all of us that they, too, enjoy this festive season. I, therefore, ask of you that you let kindness flow from your heart as Jesus would wish you to do.
The New Year at best would be challenging for all of us, but with the continued efforts of all we can certainly mitigate the financial impact of this world recession.
Let us strive during this season and throughout next year to be kind, happy and productive, and at the same time being very cautious with finances as we anticipate the problems of 2009.
My family and I wish the nation Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
