A Biabou man was remanded in police custody yesterday after being charged with hitting his fellow villager with a bottle.

When Jamesy Harry appeared before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias at the Serious Offences Court yesterday, he was charged that on July 14, 2017 he did unlawfully and maliciously wound Aaron Boyea of Biabou with intent so to do.

When the question of bail arose, senior prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche objected.

Delpesche told the court that Boyea is currently warded at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) nursing a head injury caused by a bottle and is being closely monitored and observed.

He requested that Harry be remanded for seven days in the first instance.

In turn, the Chief Magistrate told Harry that bail would not be considered, as the virtual complainant is still a patient at the hospital.

Harry is remanded in custody until July 24, when Boyea’s medical report would be produced as part of the bail review.(AS)
