Alleged assault lands taxi man in court
An apparent disagreement between two taxi men drove one to report the other to the police for assault bodily harm.
Darron Russell, a 33-year-old resident of Kingstown Park was taken to the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday July 1.
At first Russell entered a guilty plea to the charge that he did, on December 30, 2019, assault Romeo Dembar, a 66-year-old taxi driver of Cane Garden, causing him actual bodily harm.
However, in the story that Russell told Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett, he presented a defence to the charge, and as such a not guilty plea was entered instead.
There will be a trial in the matter, which may take place at the next adjourned date, October 19.
In the meantime, Russell has been released on $1000 bail with one surety.
