Police reports state that Browne was charged with raping an 18-year-old female of Biabou, at Diamond on March 14, 2007 at about 5.30 p.m.
A tailor in the police force for the past 16 years, Browne is scheduled to reappear in court on April 26.
Browne appeared at the Family Court last Friday where he was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Browne’s arrest came on the heels of Police Constable Erikson Harris’ arrest on a murder charge earlier this month. Harris was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison for the December 15,2005 killings of Jennine Gill and Vonley Llewelyn. Gill died as a result of several stab wounds and Llewellyn succumbed to a single blow to the head. Their charred bodies were found in Gill’s burnt out house at the Villa-Fountain road.
