Two women slashed to death at Largo Height

Dead are Jamaican Suzette Brooke, 58, and her friend and helper Aretha Cain, 30, of Walvaroo. Their fully clothed bodies were discovered in the corridor of the Brooksâ rented home last Wednesday, May 30.
The gruesome discovery was made by Stanford Peters, driver of the Brookeâs passenger van âAtlanticâ who visited his employer at around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
He said that he had been unable to reach her since dropping her home at around 8 p.m. on Monday, May 28 following the Fishermanâs Day celebrations at the Calliaqua Playing Field.
Peters told SEARCHLIGHT that he came to collect money from Brooke to do some repairs on the van.
âI was trying to call her last night, all night and the phone just kept ringing, and this morning early was the same thing, so I came to see her,â Peters said.
He said that when he arrived at the house, he opened the gate with his key and started calling and knocking on the door but got no reply. He then decided to peep through a window close to the living room where he saw a lifeless body on the ground. He called the police.
As police continue their investigation under the direction of Station Sergeant Sidney James, they would only confirm that the bodies seem to have been there a while; at least a day.
The scene was a very bloody one and both women received chop wounds to their faces with a very sharp object.
SEARCHLIGHT understands that Brooke, who also lived in England, had been living in Largo Heights on the outskirts of Kingstown for only a few months. She previously resided at Brighton, a residential area at the southern tip of the island.
Brooke was also looking forward to welcoming her only child to St. Vincent next month. Her daughter Katrina recently gave birth to a son in England.
Katrina will die, I donât know how I going to tell her what happen to her mother,â said well-known shopkeeper Kendal âKenlynâ Neverson, who, weeping profusely said that he was very close to Brooke.
Acting Commissioner Pompey said that he was confident that his officers will solve these latest murders and are on top of the overall crime situation.
