Cain was the feature speaker and, although his remarks were brief, he held the audience captive.
With this yearâs World Food Day theme being, âThe Right to Food,â Cain told the students that they should not only have the right to food, but they should eat the right food. Cain interacted with the students asking questions which they thunderously answered, and at the end of his speech he received applause, screams and hoots befitting a rock star.
This year, the harvest netted record amounts of cash, with Donna Clarkeâs Form 3B4 contributing $1,049 to the grand total of $6,327. Over $2,000 worth of groceries, boxes of fruits, vegetables and ground provisions were also collected.
The food and cash will be distributed to various institutions and charitable organizations, including the House of Hope Society, the Catholic soup kitchen, the YWCA pre-school and the Mental Health Hospital.
The event culminated with appearances by the GHS Heritage pageant contestants and a fashion show. (AC)
