Speculations continue to swirl as to the motive behind the shooting of businessman Wendell Antrobus, of Questelles, last Saturday.{{more}}

At about 8:20 p.m., Antrobus, also known as Copper, was at his business place in Redemption Sharpes, when according to police reports, a masked man approached the 47-year-old and shot him on his left temple.

He was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where he is currently listed in serious condition.

In June 2006, Antrobus was the victim of a robbery, when two masked men shot at him while trying to relieve him of over $3,000.

Reuben Wynne, an employee of Copper’s bakery, was shot in the arm during that encounter.

Fitz-Allan “Wizzy” Bramble was caught at the scene of that robbery by Antrobus and residents of the community, and was severely beaten before police arrived.

Bramble, along with Kimron McDowall, Morris Clifton and Rashan King were all charged with robbing Antrobus.

That case is scheduled to come up for hearing at this session of the assizes.

Over the past months, a number of business places and persons have been robbed, with some persons being shot in the process.

As recent as October 2007, Elmore Adams, a businessman of Brighton, was shot in the head during an apparent robbery.

He died three weeks later in Trinidad, where he had been flown to receive medical attention. (JJ)
