This boy is not for you

Social Share

Dear Rosie,

I am an 18-year-old girl and I am with a 19-year-old boy that I liked for a long time. I met him when I was going to Secondary School. We recently spoke and made the decision to be with each other. Before we got together, he would always tell me that he loves me and wants to be with me, but these days it doesn’t seems so.{{more}} When I am with him and his male friends or girl friends are around, he refuses to talk to me until they leave. I am getting the feeling that I went into a trap of being with the wrong person. Rosie, I need your advice before it’s too late.

HELP!

Dear Help,

This boy is not for you. He said everything that he knew that you wanted to hear in order for you to go out with him. But I am here to let you know that the problem does not lie with you, but with him. He is dishonest. You have to wonder who is he really? Is he a pretender to others as well? This is something you should ask yourself.

The clearest point he made with regard to his true feelings for you is that he would ignore you when he is around his group of friends. How rude! If he were a true gentleman, he would involve and include you in whatever he is doing. But he does not.

Let’s take this situation as “what not to accept from a future boyfriend”. You are worth much more than this shabby treatment! Take your time when getting to know someone. Let them come to you and show their true intentions. I am not saying play hard to get, but we should have certain standards which we should expect.

So sad to say, my friend, he is not for you. Even if he tries to back peddle, I think he has shown his true colors already. Remember you are worth more than that. Consider that he has done you a favor, move on and continue to explore all that this wonderful world has to offer.
