Death Announcement – Dr Franklyn Jacobs
IT IS WITH great sadness that we announce the death of Dr Franklyn K. S. Jacobs. Sunrise on October 26, 1942 sunset on March 20, 2020.
Dr Jacobs was the son of the late Dr Cooper Jacobs and Mrs Leonie Cato Jacobs.
Dr Franklyn Jacobs’ mother died days after he was born; his father left St Vincent and the Grenadines during his infancy to study medicine in the United Kingdom.
Dr Jacobs grew up with his paternal grandmother, Mrs Gladys Jacobs, his aunts Ms Kathleen Jacobs, Ms Jennie Jacobs, his Uncle W B D Jacobs (Barney), and his aunt Mrs Lucille Eustace (all deceased) were very present in assisting with his nurturing.
Dr Franklyn Jacobs grew up as a sibling to all the other children in his grandmother’s house. He
was the first grandchild. Then came the late Sir K Dwight Venner, Kenlyn Jacobs Alves, Richard ( Oba) Jacobs, Kaeron Venner, Geoffrey Venner, Jeoff Venner, Laurent Jacobs and John Venner.
Dr Jacobs went to the University Of The West Indies in Mona, Jamaica. After graduating as a medical doctor, he did his internship in Trinidad and Tobago. There he met and married his first wife, Josephine. From that union, came three children: Leonie, Traverse and Franka Jo. The girls resided with their father in England and took care of him until he passed away. Traverse lives and works in Trinidad and Tobago. Dr Jacobs had a second wife Shirley, and a stepson Mark Ansah.
All of the family mourns the loss of a very caring and giving father, brother ( Michael Jacobs, a brother by father, residing in England). Cousins, Arnhim Eustace, Merle Eustace Joseph, Elliot, Maureen, and Marbet King.
Also left to mourn his loss, are second generation cousins, very dear friends, and many patients whom Dr Jacobs cared for during the course of his career.
We thank the Lord for the life and Service of Dr Franklyn K S Jacobs. May his soul and all the souls of our dearly departed loved ones Rest in Peace.
