Activities for 11th anniversary of Pan Against Crime committee begin this Sunday
The Pan Against Crime (PAC) Committee begins celebration of the 11th anniversary of the Program with a Concert in Biabou, this Sunday March 24.
The event, which has the support of the Biabou Football League, will be staged at the Playing Field, and begins at 4:30 pm.
The Biabou Church of God of Prophesy’s Choir, leads off the Concert with a session of Worship, while Reverend Pam Daniel of St Matthews Anglican Church, will bring the Exhortation. Two steel bands, Symphonix Steel Orchestra and Epic Sounds, will join the Police Band in providing music. There will also be cultural performances by several youth from Schools and Police Youth Clubs in the area.
Chairperson of the National Commission on Crime Prevention, Lateisha Sandy; Commissioner of Police, Colin John; and Parliamentary Representative for the area, Frederick Stephenson are expected to bring brief addresses, with the feature address to be delivered by Dr Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister and Minister of National Security.
The PAC Committee will again team up with the SVG Gospel Fest Committee, South Leeward Zone, to Stage the annual Gospel Fest Zonal Showcase, at Vermont, on Sunday April 21, at 4:30 pm.
The PAC Program, an initiative of the Government of SVG, was launched on February 20, 2008, and since then has established an additional 15 steel bands in various communities and schools throughout SVG.
The Program serves as a nursery for youths as young as age 7, teaching them the art of playing the steel pan and also assists them with guidance, through key individuals and stakeholders, in staying clear of crime, violence and delinquent behaviour.
