ULP is going to ‘wipe the opposition on floor’ in next general elections says Gonsalves
POLITICAL LEADER OF the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) Dr Ralph Gonsalves is predicting a significant victory for his party, whenever the next general elections are called here.
So much so that Dr Gonsalves said “the Unity Labour Party is going to wipe the opposition on the floor,” in the next elections.
General elections are constitutionally due by 2025, or as Dr Gonsalves puts it: “Whenever the Good Lord advises that it be called.”
He said the ULP will see victory at the polls, once it embraces what he called the seven unities.
Speaking on the ‘Issue at Hand’ programme on WE FM on Sunday July 24, Gonsalves also expressed confidence that the ULP is implementing many good programs for St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The ULP was first elected into office after winning the 2001 general elections.
The elections were held on March 28, 2001 and the ULP secured a landslide victory by taking 12 of the 15 seats available.
This feat brought an end to the 17 years of NDP rule in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
So far, the ULP has been undefeated in every general elections since then.
In the last elections on November 5, 2020, the ULP won 9 of the 15 seats that were contested.
The next elections are still some distance away, however the ULP leader is convinced that they will be victorious.
“We will win…and we will win bigger than the last time,” Dr Gonsalves stated.
