EDITOR: St. Vincent, Home of the Blessed. We are no longer blessed. Our prayers are not answered, for everyday it gets worse. Look at what is happening to our school children, our law officers are breaking the law, what has happened to our day of prayer, or our week of prayers? They are not heard. In the Bible, Isaiah: chapter 58, please read it in your bible. I will quote verse three.

Wherefore have we fasted say they and thou seest not? Wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

You see, God is saying when we approach unto Him we promote self. We are carried away by the things of this world. There is a song with a verse in it that says “Not the labour of my hands; Can fulfill thy law’s demand; Naked, come to Thee for dress; Helpless look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly; wash me, Saviour, or I die.” When we approach Him we have to get rid of self.

We are dust and ashes in His sight. In the bible, the book of Ezekiel, chapter 14, the elders of Israel came to the prophet to hear from God and God refused to talk to them. That’s what happens to our day and week of prayer, God refuses to answer. We have to make it right with ourselves first before we can pray for others.

I attended a meeting weeks ago in Kingstown, when I got there I asked if you can ask questions. They said no, so I felt down, because I really wanted to hear what they had to say. The talk was Beyond the Ashes. I could have said to them the only ashes we are beyond is when we used to cook and bake with wood fire. For now we have gas stoves with ovens, there is no longer any ashes. The volcanic ashes will be forever, for many would not be around to talk about it.

Some years ago I had a dream. I was lying on a cloud in the sky, I was lying on my belly with my hand to my jaw and I could see all over St Vincent. Then this voice said, this is the job of a watchman. It is not an easy task, but I can say like the apostle Paul, I am free from the blood of all men. Anyone who wants to talk with me I am willing to do so. The volcanic ash is under us, and above us we cannot get away.
