Buccament residents receive training in fire safety
The Buccament Community Disaster Response Team (CDRT), in collaboration with the Fire Department of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), have conducted training in fire safety for residents of the Buccament community.
A release from the CDRT said the training is a part of a series of activities organised by the Buccament CDRT to observe one year since the emergency response team was launched in May,2021. Residents were also exposed to training in disaster preparedness conducted by disaster manager in the Ministry of Education, Kathy Badenock.
President of the Buccament CDRT, Santa Cruickshank said that community training in managing emergencies will be a priority for the group as will be encouraging each family to design a simple family disaster plan.
The Buccament CDRT has completed both its Community Disaster Plan and the Community Resilience Plan. In March this year the CDRT commissioned a climate smart bus shelter with support from Global Affairs Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, the Ministry of National Mobilisation and the Roads Building and General Services Authority (BRAGSA).
