X- Ceed athletics camp ends on high note

AFTER FIVE WEEKS of sweat and hard work, as well as challenges of inclement weather, the X- Ceed Sports Club Athletics Camp, 2021, ended on a high note last Thursday at the Grammar School Playing Field.

A mini meet and presentation of awards, consumed the last day of activities of the camp, which is into its tenth year.

For first-timer to such a camp, Deiere–Ann O’ Garro, a student of the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua, assessed, the social interaction as her highlight.

“It was nice, as I got to engage with other people and learn new stuff about track and field events,” O’ Garro said.

Given another opportunity to attend another such camp, O’ Garro quickly responded, “I will surely be there”.

Meanwhile for Kodi Grant, who was part of previous camps, stated: “It was pretty good… It was a learning experience”.

But Grant said that during the sessions, he has learnt that he was not as good as he thought he was in the throws.

Grant though revealed, “I was able to develop my skills in the long jump and triple jump”.

Overall, head of the X- Ceed Sports Club and head coach who oversaw the camp, Godfrey Harry, summed up the camp as “successful”.

“Based on the constraints in terms of the weather that interrupted some of the sessions… we had to make some chops and changes, it was fairly well conducted … the coaches worked according to the plan that we had and we are quite satisfied with the outcome,” Harry related.

Harry expressed sincerest thanks to Team Athletics SVG, for their financial input towards the camp.
