Karate Association hosts National Kata workshop
The Hairouna Karate Federation (HKF) successfully hosted a National Kata Workshop on Saturday March 5, 2022 the second in a series of seminars for athletes, judges, and coaches.
Seventeen persons from affiliated members of the federation -SVG IKD Shotokan Karate Club, Shotokan-Ryu Karate, and the Seishin Karate Club participated in the seminar which was held at the West St George Secondary School, a release from the HKF said.
The aim of the seminars was to introduce the participants to the rule and regulations outlined by the World Karate Federation (WKF).
The main focus is to have the athletes understand the criteria that are used when a Kata performance is being evaluated. At the end of the seminars athletes and coaches would be able to enhance their training sessions to maximize the way their athletes perform at tournaments.
The seminar was the second in a series of three scheduled for the first quarter of the calendar year. The third seminar will cover competition kumite and will cater primarily for athletes, judges, and coaches.
