SVGNA to establish safe-guarding policy
KEEPING IN LINE with regional and international best practices, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA) will soon be embarking on a” Safe – Guarding Policy”.
This was disclosed by newly installed president of the SVGNA, Natasha Baptiste.
Regarding the policy , Baptiste said that when formalized, it would be aimed at protecting the major stakeholders of Netball.
She said:“ The safety of our players, our coaches and even our spectators- it is something of paramount importance so we will be working on that policy to protect our athletes.”
Baptiste added that the policy is mainly proactive as the sport of Netball is not known to have raucous and violent incidences during competitions.
However, she said, “We don’t wait until an incident happens to put a policy in place so we are putting things in place to mitigate any incidents at all, so that is part of our thrust going forward.”
Baptiste was elected to head the SVGNA on May 9, 2022 at the organisation’s Annual General meeting.
