Four named for Junior CASA
JAYDEN GEORGE, Jaydon Williams, Cirara George and Nadira Morgan, have been named to the St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) team for the 2022 Caribbean Area Squash Association( CASA) Junior Squash Tournament in Georgetown, Guyana.
The four who are all seeded going into the tournament, will compete in the individual segment from July 10-12.
Both Jayden George and Jaydon Williams are seeded number one in the respective age groups.
Jayden George, who won the Boys Under-11 title in Trinidad and Tobago in 2019, the last hosting of the tournament, enters as the top seed in the Under-13 this time around, while Williams who got bronze in the Under-13 in 2019, starts off as top seed in the Under-15s.
Exuding confidence, Williams told SEARCHLIGHT last Saturday at the National Squash Centre at Paul’s Avenue that it feels “great” being the number seed.
According to him, “ Statistically, being named number one means that I am the best and I will be trying to remain the number one at the end of the tournament”.
Meanwhile, Jayden George, the other number one seed, is not making any predictions about his chances in Guyana, but noted that he has practised intensely for the tournament and is hopeful of doing his “best”.
Apart from the number seeds, Ciara George is listed as the number two seed in the Girls Under- 15.
And, Morgan enters the fray as the third seed in the Girls Under-17 age group. She won the consolation Girls Under-15 in 2019.
Amber Glasgow accompanies the four young prospects as coach.
The National Lotteries Authority made it possible for St Vincent and the Grenadines’ participation.
The 2023 edition of the Junior CASA Tournament, is listed to be hosted here in SVG.
